Update of TOC meter at the wastewater treatment plant of recycled paper manufacturer.

From combustion type to wet two-stage oxidation method! A new analytical device for measuring TOC content has been introduced.

In this column, we introduce a case of TOC meter renewal at the wastewater treatment plant of the German recycled paper manufacturer Steinbeis Papier. The company has been using a high-temperature combustion oxidation method for TOC measurement for many years. While they were satisfied with this method, there were many cases where the measurement range of the existing product was insufficient. It was believed that in order to maintain the continuous reliability of online TOC values, which are essential for accurate plant control and trouble-free TOC decomposition, replacement due to equipment aging was necessary. Therefore, taking this opportunity for renewal, they decided to introduce a new analytical device to measure the TOC content at the entrance and exit of the wastewater treatment plant. [Contents] ■ Felt the need to reconsider the new TOC meter ■ At the entrance and exit of the wastewater treatment plant ■ About the introducing company *For more details on the column, please refer to the related link. Overseas case study: Reducing product loss through online TOC monitoring in a dairy factory.

Optimize high-load wastewater processes! Instant detection and quantification of dairy product leaks in treatment processes and wastewater.

Recently, food and beverage manufacturers are being compelled to minimize the use of water, chemicals, and energy while maximizing production yields and reducing carbon dioxide emissions. This column discusses the reduction and minimization of product loss, which results in decreased water usage, fewer necessary treatments, and reduced energy consumption. An online TOC monitoring system designed for dairy products functions as an independent monitor for factories and process lines, capable of transforming the daily operations of personnel, processes, and equipment in dairy factories. Additionally, by reliably and accurately monitoring the milk discharged as wastewater from the factory in real-time, it is possible to immediately quantify product loss, identify areas for improvement, and significantly reduce the extent of losses. *For more details on the column, please refer to the related links. Feel free to contact us for more information.

Monitoring industrial waste before inflow at the municipal wastewater treatment plant.

Instantly and in real-time, TOC can be measured! We guarantee long-term operation and accurate measurement results.

This column introduces a case where the municipal wastewater facility in Istanbul, Turkey, monitors the total organic carbon (TOC) to directly measure all organic matter before it enters urban areas, thereby monitoring the organic load of industrial wastewater. This has resulted in not only environmental conservation but also many other benefits. In Japan, there is a growing demand for long-term and continuous online monitoring using TOC, which can directly measure all organic matter in a short time, as a replacement for the conventional management of COD and BOD in wastewater that, once contaminated, cannot be reversed. We hope this information will be helpful for future policy considerations. For more details, please refer to the related links. [Contents] ■ Overview ■ Background ■ Emission Monitoring Station ■ Measurement of Total Organic Carbon ■ Benefits ■ Results *For detailed content of the column, please refer to the related links. Online TOC/TN/TP Analyzer BioTector B7000

Simultaneous measurement of TOC and TN/TP at high concentration without dilution in a short time.

The BioTector series online TOC (Total Organic Carbon) analyzer can obtain accurate results even for difficult applications. It has the same functions as the B7000i in the same series, and can simultaneously measure TN/TP* without dilution, even at high concentrations. *Measurement of TN (Total Nitrogen): During the TOC analysis process, nitrogen compounds are decomposed into nitrates. The samples that have completed TOC measurement are sent for measurement, where they are analyzed using a spectrophotometric method at a wavelength of 217 nm tailored for nitrates. The flash light source of the spectrophotometer is activated, and the TN value is measured from the nitrate ions. *Measurement of TP (Total Phosphorus): During the TOC analysis process, lower phosphorus compounds are decomposed into phosphates. The samples after measurement are sent to the TP boiler, where they are heated at 100°C for about 6 minutes, allowing the remaining poly-phosphorus compounds to be heated and hydrolyzed. TP reagents are added, and the samples are further heated to 45°C before entering the measurement cell. They are measured using a spectrophotometric method at a wavelength of 405 nm tailored for phosphates. The flash light source of the spectrophotometer is activated, and the TP value is measured from the ortho-phosphate ions.

Online TOC Analyzer for Process Water and Wastewater B7000i

Solving issues such as "clogs, failures, and frequent maintenance/calibration" in wastewater containing chlorides and calcium, as well as in the measurement of high SS TOC.

Among the BioTector series, the B7000i is capable of obtaining accurate results even in particularly challenging applications. It comes standard with a self-cleaning feature, freeing users from the hassle of tube clogs and cleaning. With a sample tube and tube pump that have a diameter of 3.2mm, it is possible to measure soft samples containing fibrous solids, fats, oils, and salts with particle sizes up to 2mm without dilution. As a result, it addresses the issue faced by traditional combustion methods of underestimating particulate organic carbon (POC) and being heavily reliant on dissolved organic carbon (DOC) values.
